In September 1968, Amon Düül performed at Germany’s first major rock festival, the "International Essener Songtage," where producer Peter Meisel signed them alongside Tangerine Dream and Birth Control. Originating from a free-spirited artistic collective connected to Berlin’s Kommune 1, Amon Düül embraced a chaotic, rule-breaking approach to music. Their unconventional 1968 recording session was initially shelved but later released as Psychedelic Underground.

In 1972, after the group had disbanded, Disaster/Lüüd Noma was released, featuring more refined recordings from the same session. With surreal titles and intentional imperfections, the album captures the unique spirit of the era and is considered essential listening for fans of early Krautrock. The remastered version preserves its legacy as a snapshot of an unrepeatable cultural moment.
