After the Heat (1978) is a collaborative album between Brian Eno and the German electronic duo Cluster (Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius), released on Sky Records. Produced by Conny Plank, the album features a blend of organic and electronic sounds, with slow-moving instrumentals characterized by repetitive synthesizer patterns and sustained guitar notes. Three tracks include vocals by Eno, both recited and sung.
While the first collaboration, Cluster & Eno, is often viewed as the precursor to German ambient music, After the Heatrepresents a shift. According to Asmus Tietchens, it's more of an Eno-centric album that incorporates Cluster's stylistic elements, creating a mix of ambient, modern classical, and prog influences. The result is a sweet, airy, and contemplative atmosphere with subtle layers, highlighting the group's innovative approach to sound exploration.
