THE ORB, the iconic electronic duo of Alex Paterson and Thomas Fehlmann, return with COW / CHILL OUT, WORLD!, an ambient album created in just six months. Known for their genre-defying sound and experimental spirit, this project reflects a spontaneous, present-day approach rather than a nostalgic return to past works like Moonbuilding 2703 AD. The album was born out of five relaxed studio sessions and shaped by field recordings, live samples, and the duo's extensive touring experience.
Their creative process embraced improvisation and simplicity, resulting in a record that, while playful and rich with layered meanings (even in its acronymic title), maintains a clear and immersive listening experience. Despite their abstract references and multi-textured sounds, THE ORB’s distinctive sonic signature remains unmistakable. With COW, they invite listeners on a fresh, exploratory ambient journey—one that is deeply rooted in the present and proudly electronic at heart.
