Sometimes people say "less is more," and AM/DM (the artist name of Alejandro M. De Miguel) really makes the most of every element in his productions. This mini-album wraps you in galactic yet familiar soundscapes. Natural meets artificial, and the familiar blends with the strange, creating a soundtrack that fits perfectly with breakfast or dinner, a gentle dance or a quick nap—really, just about anything.
Side A starts with "wrong way," setting up an artificial landscape with delicate, metallic tones over dreamy pads. Then there's "night," a track with a futuristic RnB vibe, followed by "walk dub," where a deep bassline and echoes sway you back and forth in smooth, flowing rhythms. "step stop" picks up the pace with a more energetic beat that makes you want to dance, or even lose yourself a little. Side A wraps up with "ants," a track that feels like it captures a colony of ants living in the digital world.
On Side B, "tumult" kicks things off with tribal percussion and a playful bassline. "PMVersion" follows with dub rhythms, this time featuring a trumpet that seems like it could go on forever. "space jungle emergency landing procedure" is a hypnotic loop with a club-ready groove, while "straw" closes the album and launches us into space, where Alex seems perfectly at home.
So, is less really more? We don’t know for sure, but this album shows us the beauty of simplicity. Enjoy!
