With It Was So Real, Josefine (formerly of the synthpop group Time Masters) introduces her new project, Upshifter. Originally described as "New Age manifestation" during her first live performances in Odense, this demo cassette captures a sound that is both ethereal and deeply grounded. The music is built on glimmering synthesizer patterns and vocals that drift into a vast, reverb-heavy infinity.
This is a collection of minimal songs performed with the simplest of tools, yet it stands as some of the most emotionally resonant material released on the Afvikling label to date. There is a palpable sense of longing within these tracks (a yearning for an imaginary world that feels simultaneously distant and intimately close). It is a hauntingly beautiful document of lo-fi pop sensibilities meeting spiritual ambient textures.
