Kristian Poulsen is a Danish guitarist working primarily with prepared detuned guitar structures in both solo and group context. Besides different duos and trios he plays in the bands Inner Cop Avoidance and Spost.
Layer is a solo record for solo acoustic standard guitar with four steel strings. Everything is improvised and recorded with a zoom recorder without dubbing. The music has similarities with free improvisation in the style of, for instance, Derek Bailey or Fred Frith, but there is also a country feeling and a static trance-like repetition going into a kind of locked groove.
