On Collide, Leif explores the beauty of unpredictability and the sonic potential of decay. Much of the album's unique sound is derived from a relic of his childhood: an old Aria Pro II electric guitar, scratched and equipped with damaged, unpredictable electronics.
The record leans into this sense of things being broken—embracing the idea that sometimes things need to break in order for us to make sense of them. Rather than resisting these flaws, Leif revels in them, creating lush textures that traverse unexpected terrains. It is a masterful study of fragility and resonance, where the "damaged" instrument becomes a vehicle for deep, atmospheric exploration.
