Following the lukewarm reception of their previous pop-leaning albums, the band decided to toughen their sound—without ever losing their Bubble Gum roots—to deliver what would become their hardest album to date: Too Tough To Die.
Enlisting drummer Richie Ramone for his first project, the band’s creative vision was to record as live and raw as possible. This compilation provides a bevy of demos and alternate takes from those legendary sessions, including several tracks with Richie and Dee Dee Ramone on lead vocals. It serves as a fascinating bridge between the garage-rock of Subterranean Jungle and the fully realized power of the final Too Tough To Die production.
