Morc Records / Belgium / 2012 / 7"
Annelies and Wim have been living together for about 10 years – first in Hilversum, The Netherlands, later in Ghent, Belgium. From the moment they moved in together they became a big indirect influence on each others work.
The mere fact that they could constantly use each others instruments definitely changed the sound of the later records. In Annelies’ case, this resulted in the use of more effects and writing guitar-based songs. Whereas Circle Bros drifted away from being a guitar-oriented drone entity.
The idea for the split release only grew recently, when both artists realized that some of their newer sounds have similarities with the work of the other. Do not expect annelies trying to sound like circle bros, or the other way round. But listeners who pay attention will hear similarities between these diverse artists.
