Futura Resistenza / Belgium / 2025 / 12"

Helsinki-based artist Aukio Sound arrives on Future Resistenza with a captivating project that bridges the gap between West African ritual music and European dub techno. Born from a residency in Grand-Popo, Benin, where he studied the communal power and trance-inducing nature of Voodoo ceremonies, this record is the result of a chance meeting with local vocalist John Follas.

The two main tracks, "Hode Medio" and "Sakpata," feature Follas’ pristine, conversational vocals enveloped in fog-like synths and meditative, polyrhythmic beats. Aukio Sound spent five years refining these arrangements, drawing heavy inspiration from the minimalist, spacious echoes of Rhythm & Sound. By blending field recordings from Beninese villages with deep, woody electronic production, the record captures a unique "microclimate" that is both communal and deeply introspective.
