Family Friend Records / US / 2025 / LP,  Limited Edition, Stereo, 180 gram

After more than two decades of near silence in music, cult figure Vincent Gallo returns with The Music of Butterfly, a full-length debut from his new duo project, Butterfly, alongside Harper Simon. Released on Gallo’s Family Friend Records, the album is a delicate blend of DIY, left-field pop, minimalism, and experimentalism—reminiscent of the unique sound he became known for through his Warp releases in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

Recorded in New York between 2018 and 2019, the album’s ten tracks are stripped-back, intimate, and quietly captivating—feeling at once playful and deeply personal. It’s a sonic continuation of Gallo’s earlier work, yet enriched by his collaboration with Simon, whose own background includes work with Yoko Ono and a lineage as Paul Simon’s son.

The record has been released in a deluxe 180g vinyl edition featuring textured gatefold artwork and anti-static inner sleeves, emphasizing its handcrafted, tactile aesthetic. More than just a musical comeback, The Music of Butterfly is a graceful, unpretentious return to form for Gallo—reminding listeners of his singular talent and the blurred lines between film, music, and underground art that have long defined his career.
