Who is Chad Williams? A former Navy soldier? An Englishman obsessed with Andalucia? A frustrated cabaret singer?
Well, to put it simply, we don’t really know. What we do know is that he's a sensitive character, drawn to heartbreak and a lover of polyphony.
Disco Feo has the Yamaha PSS-F30 at its core. It’s an exploration of what can happen when this keyboard - apparently made for children - falls into the hands of an artist with a boundless imagination.
The album is full of catchy melodies, lyrics that are at once innocent but profound, Balearic ballads, sounds from the 60s and 80s, even rap. It doesn't quite have it all, but it comes pretty damn close.
We’ll never know exactly who Chad is. But if the mysterious figure is hard to classify, he’s even harder to ignore.
