Entidade singular é un termo empregado en demografía que o Instituto Nacional de Estatística define como calquera área habitable dun termo municipal —habitada ou excepcionalmente deshabitada— claramente diferenciada dentro do mesmo, e coñecida por unha denominación específica que a identifica sen posibilidade de confusión. No ano 2023 en Galicia había 30454 entidades singulares, o que representaba preto do 50% das existentes no territorio nacional.
Iván Nespereira utiliza esta definición para dar forma a un arquivo no que traballa percorrendo insistentemente o territorio no que vive dende o ano 2006.
Entidade Singular é un libro que propón unha viaxe por Galicia, unha procura da singularidade xeográfica que dá forma á rexión do noroeste de España. Entidade singular foi recoñecido no ano 2024 co IV Premio Editorial de Fotografía Documental Galega, creado e impulsado por FFoco, Festival de Fotografía da Coruña, co obxectivo de fomentar a creación e produción de fotolibros con vinculación galega.

Nace en 1978, Iván traballa como fotógrafo e realizador freelance no ámbito da publicidade desde 2002. Inviste tempo en desenvolver proxectos documentais a longo prazo, que parten da investigación e onde a fotografía e o vídeo son as principais ferramentas que utiliza. A súa obra foi proxectada en festivais de cinema como Curtocircuito, OUFF ou Bogoshorts e exposta en Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, Fiebre photobook, Dispara e Fotomuseo Catro Camiños. Colaborou con cineastas como Pela do Álamo ( N-VI), Vicente Vázquez| Usue Arrieta (Canedo, ANAZAOP) e Óliver Laxe (París#3).

Singular Entity is a term used in demography that the Spanish National Institute of Statistics defines as any habitable area within a municipal district —inhabited orbnexceptionally uninhabited— clearly differentiated within it, and known by a specific name that identifies it without the possibility of confusion. In 2023, there were 30,454 entidades singulares in Galicia—a region located in spanish West Coast—, representing almost 50% of those registered nationwide.
Iván Nespereira uses this definition to shape an archive in which he has been working by persistently exploring the territory where he has lived since 2006. Singular Entity is a book that proposes a journey through Galicia, a search for the singularity of the geography that shapes the region of northwestern Spain.
Singular Entity was recognized in 2024 with the 4th Editorial Award for Galician Documentary Photography, created and promoted by FFoco, the A Coruña Photography Festival, with the aim of fostering the creation and production of photobooks with Galician ties.

Born in 1978, Iván works as a freelance photographer and filmmaker in the field of advertising since 2002. He invests time in developing long-term documentary projects, based on research and where photography and video are the main tools he uses. His work has been screened at film festivals such as Curtocircuito, OUFF or Bogoshorts and exhibited in Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa, Fiebre photobook and Cuatro Caminos Fotomuseo. He has collaborated with filmmakers such as Pela del Álamo (N-VI), Vicente Vázquez | Usue Arrieta (Canedo, ANAZAOP) and Óliver Laxe (Paris # 3).
