Following his initial steps through bedroom pop and slowcore, Fernando Romero (FROM) returns with Furar Hondo, a fully analog release recorded at home using an 8-track Fostex M80 reel-to-reel tape machine, completely bypassing computers and digital software. Recorded primarily in isolation -with drums and conservatory clavichord tracking being the only exceptions- the album prioritizes a raw, hands-on physical process driven by spatial depth, repetition, and deliberate tape calibration.
Musically, Furar Hondo bridges a wide spectrum of underground influences: the dark, song-oriented dub of Lifetones (Charles Bullen / This Heat) and Scientist, the 1980s Belgian minimal wave scene, and the raw acoustic psych-folk production of Dave Bixby and Tanguito. Built around cross-panned guitar delays, real drum takes, clavichord flourishes, and sequenced basslines running in loops, the instrumentation purposefully blurs melodic boundaries over unsettling, rarefied atmospheric backdrops.
Lirically, the album explores themes of amplified everyday violence, urban-rural friction, spatial paranoia, and an overriding sense of hometown nostalgia (morriña). Sung in Spanish and French, the songs capture an uncompromising, unpolished sonic identity that defies contemporary digital trends.
