Omni Sight Seeing marked Haruomi Hosono’s first studio album in four years since Endless Talking and his debut release under Epic/Sony Records. Collaborating with Arabian musicians, Hosono embraced the rising 'world music' trend, but with a twist—transforming cultural tourism into a metaphor for electronic sampling. The album blends Algerian raï, Martin Denny-style exotica, and acid house into a cohesive vision, merging Jon Hassell’s Fourth World aesthetic with Duke Ellington’s "jungle music" flair—all filtered through Hosono’s unique perspective. A bold, genre-defying work, it reimagines global sounds through an electronic lens.
