Recorded not long after NNCK first formed in 1994, Languid Red Marchetti captures the group in its raw, elemental state—rhythmically untethered and rooted in abstraction. Though NNCK would eventually expand into a seven-piece ensemble known for extensive touring and recording, this document focuses on the original quartet, immersed in an enclosed sonic investigation that marks the true starting point of their aesthetic.
The group describes Languid Red Marchetti as “a proto-intuitive Latihan of feedback and pre-scaffolded layer juxtapositions that would grow into structure, and finally, habitation. While we later occupied this sound, here it existed as its own autonomous force—its aimless propulsion solidifying into both substance and terrain.”
This deluxe Planam LP edition includes an NNCK-written essay on the role of improvisation in shaping sonic imagery, housed in a full-color jacket featuring artwork that represents “the hypothetical dissolution/corruption and the inevitable repetition of Suprematism.”
