Galleon Key Recordings / USA / 1998 / LP, clear deadstock
A true late-90s indie/post-rock hidden gem. Released in 1998, The Circular Ruins is the melancholic and atmospheric debut LP from the Olympia, Washington trio Nova Scotia (featuring acclaimed sound artist Marcus Fischer). Recorded at the legendary Dub Narcotic and Yo-Yo Studios, the album was mixed in part by indie-pop icon Calvin Johnson (Beat Happening / K Records). Named after the famous Jorge Luis Borges short story, this rare original first pressing on clear vinyl features striking back-cover artwork by Russian constructivist Alexander Rodchenko. We are thrilled to offer original, unplayed deadstock copies of this beautiful, hard-to-find piece of Pacific Northwest musical history.
