Behind this beautiful release we find the musician and visual artist Or Sarfati.
The EP was recorded in Spring 2020 and acts as a soundtrack for a particular moment in time during the pandemic lockdown period.
Each track is a solo representation of an instrument and includes up to 4 layers.
In the first track, “Sky On A Concrete Background”, we find the Fender Telecaster, the oldest and very first instrument in the inventory of Fender.
Originally manufactured in Japan, and well preserved, the guitar holds all the original parts and electricity, with a unique timber mechanism allowing up to 13 different timbers.
Followed by “Spring Is Only For Us”, we hear the Arabic Oud, build by craftsman Kamil Mowais from Nazareth.
His track starts with an improvisation introducing the Arabic scale.
Or Sarfati’s compositions move between ambient and minimalism, creating an abstract atmosphere yet stating a tonal ground to land on.
With a great similarity to eastern improvisation technics, Or invited the listener to be led by sounds to different sonar landscapes.
