Afvikling / Denmark / 2025 / CS
Under his new moniker Plain Bob Minor, Danish musician Frederik Heidemann returns to the Afvikling fold with a captivating shift in sound. Moving away from the patient, homemade chamber music of his debut, The sad house and the bad house explores a more synthetic—yet equally intimate—territory through small compositions for MIDI-controlled synthesizers.
The album is a collection of quirky, melodic vignettes that balance a sense of humor with the inherent warmth found in all of Heidemann’s recordings. Despite the digital precision of the tools used, the music feels remarkably human and domestic, unfolding like a series of sonic dioramas. It is a playful yet deeply soulful exploration of minimalist synthesis, cementing Heidemann’s place as a vital architect of the Afvikling aesthetic.
