XTV / RE 2025 / LP, unofficial release
Unripened (Demos and Rare Tracks) captures the earliest studio recordings of The Velvet Underground & Nico, made in April 1966 and presented by Andy Warhol to Columbia Records, who ultimately rejected it. This raw, pre-release version offers a rare glimpse into the band's formative sound, with early, unpolished versions of key tracks like “Heroin,” “Venus in Furs,” and “All Tomorrow’s Parties.” Missing tracks like “Sunday Morning” and “There She Goes Again” had not yet been recorded. It’s a vital document of the band’s experimental art-rock roots.
